Breathing life into one of the oldest free-standing commercial buildings in Malibu at 21249 Pacific Coast Highway, Habitat Home & Garden's newest design boutique will open with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony July 1st at 11AM, offering the community a new destination for sourcing one-of-a-kind statement pieces for their homes. “We’ve dreamed of offering our unique and storied pieces in Southern California for quite some time now, so when we came across the location in Malibu, we knew it was the perfect fit. A community that combines a natural passion and appreciation for design and unique offerings, as well as the unmistakable values and tight-knit feel of a local community. To have our third showroom nestled within the beautiful beach town feels like a natural next step,” said Kaj Maloney, President of Habitat Home & Garden. In a similar fashion to its San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara locations, the latest shopping destination will be a historic building with tangible charm, interesting nooks, and bespoke design features. With a profound respect and appreciation for the unique characteristics that old architecture offers, it is a natural fit for Habitat to find its new “old” home within a historic 4,000-square-foot 1930s coastal property. “Our brand is known for curating eclectic, soulful pieces from around the world, so a cookie-cutter retail building wasn’t going to be an accurate reflection of who we are,” said Maloney. “All of our locations have a story, from old hardware stores to local groceries; and the Malibu location is no exception. These historic buildings not only create a fun space for our design team to harness their creativity but also results in an interesting layout for our customers to explore, with various unique rooms and vignettes. The character it exudes provides a sense of excitement and energy you cannot achieve with a newly built rectangle,” he stated.

To celebrate the opening, Habitat Home & Garden will host a series of in-store events for customers to enjoy in early July, including a grand opening party, a ribbon-cutting celebration hosted by the Malibu-Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce, and an exclusive trade event to welcome the local design community into their new neighborhood design center.
