About Us
For 39 years, Dr. Scott has treated people plagued by substance and behavioral use disorders, mental illness, simple and complex trauma, dissociation, and victims of torture and sex trafficking. As an authentic, dedicated, passionate, licensed professional clinical counselor and certified creative and expressive arts psychotherapist, Dr. Scott has dedicated her life to health, wellness, and art as medicine. This work has included academic and treatment center administration and experiential teaching for professional clinicians, medical doctors, graduate students, the public, and herself relevant to her health journey. She describes herself as “a healer who walks the fine line between mysticism and evidenced-based psychotherapy,” through workshops around the world, she aspires to bring hope and healing to diverse populations. Dr. Scott actively invests in social change by teaching how the arts can facilitate healing. As an artist, author, therapist, and keynote speaker, she advocates for disempowered populations through global collaborative cultural exchange. For example, this year, she was the keynote speaker for the first scientific expressive arts therapy conference in Cairo, Egypt, and she has been invited to return.
Dr. Scott has won several awards for her service, including but not limited to one offered by the Malibu Chapter of the DAR, The Alumni Award presented by Sierra Tucson Treatment Center, and she is a Fellow for ISSTD for her academic research and advocacy for victims of trauma. ISSTD is the oldest and most prestigious trauma organization in the world.
