Run For Your Mind - at Third Space of BGCM
Ages: ALL (but important to note that this is NOT a drop-off workshop - if kids attend, parents must also attend the entire time)
Details: It is no secret that mental and physical wellbeing are interconnected, however, the path to achieving these can feel daunting at best. While we make no claims that running is a panacea, after decades of personal experience and through the thousands of people we have coached, we believe that empowering people with the skills to move better and a foundation to get started will pave the way to better mental and physical health. For most of us, our earliest experiences with running were in school, and oftentimes, it was not an enjoyable experience. This is in part because most coaches don't consider running as a skill or tool, which can lead to injury, non-inclusivity, and a negative outlook. We aim to change the narrative around running and movement, instead offering it as a tool for health, empowerment, exploration and community, all of which lead to improved wellbeing. Life has a way of sending challenges our way when we least expect them. Perhaps one of the biggest gains to be realized through running is that the challenges found on the road (or trails) remind us that we can do difficult things and come through the other side.
Wherever your path takes you, this workshop will offer some words of wisdom, new skills for your toolbox and space to ask questions.
Whether you are run-curious or an established runner looking to improve, ALL are welcome here. We will not be running more than a few minutes at a time and participants are welcome to step to the side and simply observe at any point as well.
Please come dressed ready to run and wear running/athletic shoes.
We will be raffling off a pair of R.A.D running shoes - when you register for this workshop, you will automatically be entered to win. Please note that this raffle is only open to adults (18+). R.A.D stands for "Rally Against the Destruction of Mind, Body and Planet", with a mission to fulfill and protect the human experience.
This workshop is brought to you by Run Malibu.
